Asheville Getaway

Hi friends,
How have you been? How was your Memorial Day weekend? How did you spend it? I wanted to share with you how my honey and I spent our Memorial Day weekend. We cashed in a gift certificate for a resort in Asheville, North Carolina that my awesome and amazingly generous and thoughtful mother-in-law gave us as a joint Christmas gift. Merry Christmas to us in May! I love it! Her only stipulation was that she get to watch our kids at her home while we were away. We couldn't say 'yes' quick enough! That's what I call a 'win/win situation'. Our kids had a wonderful time with their grandma and their second cousins plus other family members and of course, my honey and I had a kid free amazing weekend.

Saturday: We spent our time driving through the mountains and countryside. Once we arrived in Asheville we headed over the to Tobacco Barn for some antiquing....

We headed over the downtown Asheville for lunch and some shopping. The old Woolworth store has local arts and crafts....

Local artists performing on streets...

Next, we drove along the Blue Ridge Parkway. What a gorgeous day! I think Steve was embarrassed by my 'hipster hat' (that's what he called it!).....

For dinner we headed over the Biltmore Village and ate at the Corner Kitchen....

Sunday:

Neither Steve nor I had ever seen the Biltmore House. I am soooo glad that we chose to tour the very grand house and gardens (the roses and peonies were in full bloom). I was so reminded of one of my favorite shows, Downton Abbey!

On Sunday afternoon we headed over to the Grove Park Inn Resort and Spa to check in, have dinner, and spend the night. Ahhh! This location was so amazingly beautiful and relaxing!!!! They are celebrating their 100th anniversary.

We loved sitting in rocking chairs on the porch with a glass of wine, relaxing and reading....

Eating dinner on the Sunset Terrace.....dinner cost almost as much as the room but let me tell you, it was worth every penny of it!....

Monday:

We had breakfast in bed, enjoyed the grounds of the Grove Park Inn for a few hours then headed to pick up our kids. First, we stopped at Lake Lure, NC which looked like a great place to take the kids.....

Thanks to my Facebook friends who gave me recommendations of what to do in Asheville. It was a wonderfully relaxing weekend. I hope that you find some time to get away and relax some this summer too.

Be well friends,
Megan

Birthday Twins

Hi friends,
Thanks so much for joining me today. How have you been?

By the way, I updated my 'Tour My Home', 'Books & Reading', 'Decorating Projects' and 'Joy Rising' tabs. Feel free to check them out when you get a chance.

Recently, our family headed to the beautiful beaches of South Carolina for a four day weekend (my absolute favorite kind of weekend!) to celebrate my husband and daughter's joint birthday. In case you didn't know, my daughter surprised us two months early of her delivery date by being born while we were out of town near Charlotte, North Carolina, visiting my husband's family for the weekend to celebrate his birthday and to attend a baby shower for us (we never made it to the baby shower, we were at the hospital instead, having a baby!). She was born on her daddy's birthday and in his hometown! That's a story I'll never forget as long as I live! She weighed 5 pounds and 1 ounce and had to stay in the NICU for about two weeks. Now, she's a thriving, happy, and healthy seven year old! She loves the fact that she has a birthday twin in her daddy.

We were fortunate that Steve's mom, aunt, and second cousin could join us for a quick birthday beach get away. Here are some pictures from the weekend:

For their birthday day celebration outing, Bryce chose going to the acquarium and Steve chose playing putt putt:

Thanks again for joining me today. I hope that you are having a great week.
Blessings to you-
